It all starts with a plan

Starting any project by drawing it out allows you to make mistakes before you start cutting any wood. With modern technology we can make precise plans using CAD software, but the tried and true method of a scaled drawing works just as well. In the drawing we lay out all the parts of our project and can size all of our critical joinery. Once everything is drawn we can measure all the parts and make a stock list. Once building has begun, we can easily refer back to our drawing to know what to do.

Shopping time!

Using the stock list we made from the drawing, we can now go to a lumber yard and pick out all the wood we need for our project. It always seems like a lot to begin with but with careful planing we are able to have very little waste.
